"Special" Effects
I saw the sci-fi classic, "Soylent Green" over the weekend. It was a decidely mediocre movie except for the last scene where Charlton Heston delivers his famous line, which is now my ringtone. Hehehehe.
Anyways, a scene in the second half of the movie involves Charlton Heston watching his friend voluntarily die in another room. Charlton is in a viewing room where he is only allowed to speak when the "Speaking Allowed" sign lights up on the control panel. Beneath the sign is a wire that runs from the control panel. At one point, Charlton is speaking to his friend, when the "Speaking Allowed" starts flashing on and off, indicating some sort of electronic trouble.
Instead of actually getting a lightbulb that could flash behind the sign, they moviemakers decided just to use the two different shots of the light on and the light off and alternate between them. The problem is that the wire is in different positions in each of the shots, and it looks like its moving around. They couldn't get a lightbulb that would flash? Unbelievable.
In conclusion, you gotta tell 'em that Soylent Green is cheaply made!(Bloody hand raised towards heavens)
